Encomara will be at Floating Offshore Wind 2026, the largest event dedicated to floating wind, at P&J Live, Aberdeen, on 7 and 8 October.
Come and see the team on Stand F22. Squid™, our patented quick connector for mooring lines and power cables, will be on the stand, and the engineers who have just taken it through full-scale inshore trials will be there to talk through what it means for project delivery.
Floating Offshore Wind 2026 brings together developers, suppliers and policymakers at the point when ScotWind, INTOG and wider European projects are moving from pipeline to execution. Installation method, weather window and operations strategy now sit on the critical path to first power.
Squid is built for that problem. It is a universal, pre-installed mooring and power-cable interface, compatible with a range of hull designs. Moorings and cables can be installed and held mid-water before the turbine arrives. Hook-up is then a rapid connection rather than a long offshore construction campaign, and the same interface supports disconnection so a turbine can be towed to port for major maintenance.
Modelling supported by Scottish Enterprise and key developers estimates that this approach could reduce levelised cost of energy by up to 20% over field life, and cut installation time against conventional methods. In August, inshore trials at Ardersier Port took Squid to TRL 7/8. ABS has confirmed the system is ready for commercial manufacture.
If you are planning a floating project, or supplying one, Stand F22 is the place to see how a plug-to-power connection changes the installation and operations model.
